Entumoto Safaris is run by Karl von Heland, who is the grandson of Erik von Heland. Erik was a young Swedish officer who became the manager of Karen Farm in 1919. The now world-famous farm belonged to the author Karen Blixen. It was the scene of the film, and one of the most famous novels “Out of Africa”.

After 40 years of safaris in East Africa, Karl established Entumoto Safari Camp in the Masai Mara, together with his close colleague and local Masai, Rimoine Ole Kararei. Karl spent years building up and establishing Entumoto as the perfect destination for his guests and wanted to make sure that the rest of their trip was of the same quality.

With his abundant knowledge of Kenya and the different lodges and resorts across the country, he set up Entumoto Safaris to help his guests organise their perfect safari. He has handpicked the best places to stay in Kenya and hired specialists to tailor each trip. Entumoto Safaris is not a big tour operator and is a much more personal service, which caters to the individual’s needs.

We only do tailored safaris for guests coming to Entumoto Safari camp. We have hand picked all the best camps and boutique hotels across Kenya and have divided them into different categories depending on budget.

We focus on private camps and hotels, not big chains. This means a huge difference in terms of service and ambiance. Also we prioritise those in a conservancy who support nature and local community.

We have visited all the establishments to make sure they are up to our standards. If you have a special request we can also include that in your itinerary.

We arrange all transfers, flights and hotels for your stay in Kenya. You just book your flights to Nairobi and then relax.

Our experts will also be on hand to give you travel tips and advice, as and when you need it.

Karl Von Heland: “There are people in this industry who are just trying to make quick money, with no regard to their guest experiences, but also there are some wonderful people with a pure interest in conservation who really care about their guests and the local community.

With Entumoto Safaris I wanted to be a part of the latter and help guests book their perfect safari. I have therefore hand picked a few places I think can offer the best experience depending on your budget. I do not think a safari should entail rushing around to cover as many different places as possible in a short period of time, but rather to focus on a few special places and really make the most of your time there.”
